The webinar “Brain development and neuropsychiatric disorders” was organized by Prof. Kyriaki Sidiropoulou and presented the state-of-the-art knowledge on the brain’s development and how genetic disturbances and/or environmental influences are thought to underlie several neuropsychiatric disorders.
Programme:
1) Transient developmental circuits that help sensory integration in cortical neural circuits. (Simon Butt, UK)
2)The effects of serotonin signalling on brain development and their contribution to the emergence of neuropsychiatric disorders. (Judith Homberg, NL)
3) The neuronal physiology that underlies critical periods of brain development. (Kyriaki Sidiropoulou, GR)
4) How neuronal circuits are affected in autism spectrum disorder. (Camilla Bellone, CH)
“There is no scientific study more vital to man than the study of his own brain. Our entire view of the universe depends on it.” – Francis Crick
In 2021, Kyriaki Sidiropoulou, as the President of the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience at the time, co-ordinated an effort to create educational videos for the public on neuroscience topics. This is a video created by Xanthippi Konstantoudaki, a Ph.D. alumnus from the Neurophysiology and Behavior Lab. You can find all the education videos in the following links: in english https://www.hsfn.gr/neuroscience-educational-videos/ and in greek https://www.hsfn.gr/εκπαιδευτικά-βίντεο-νευροεπιστημών/
